Trabzon

Trabzon is a big port city, busy, trafficated, humid. But 50 km far away there is Hamsikoy, a mountain village where I ate the sutlac, a delicious pudding made of rice and milk, double portion of course.

And then there is the Sumela Monastery, of which I knew nothing.

<<Founded in the year 386 AD during the reign of the Emperor Theodosius I  (375 – 395),[1] legend has it that two priests undertook the founding of the monastery on the site after having discovered a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary in a cave on the mountain.>>
