Here in Syria they eat it for breakfast. It can seem strange to you, but it’ s a real treat. It is accompanied with fresh tomatoes and hot peppers. And everything costs 30 cents …

Never as in this case a hint by Lonely Planet was more appreciated. We talk about the restaurant Beit Sissi, in Aleppo.

Inside an old renovated and furnished with great taste house here they serve the best food of the city, according to the guide. For what I tried, I can not disagree. Here you see the mezze, the arab starters: and sujok, spicy sausage wrapped in Arabic bread and fried: vegetables in olive oil: m’hammara, a sauce with nuts, lemon, parsley, cumin and pomegranate concentrate. The glass is a lebanese wine, very intense.

And then the main dish of the house (as if those others were not enough): kebab with cherries. Indescribable in words. If heaven exists, its trees grow this.
